I have a quiet moment to myself this Saturday morning (the door is shut anyway!), as my husband makes pancakes and my daughters play in the living room, so I thought I would type out some things I would like to get done this week, to motivate myself. Some of these are things that were on my New Year’s Aspirations list.

  1. Buy hardware and make curtains for the living room and kitchen.
  2. Sort out the papers and stationary I have stashed in a kitchen cupboard.
  3. Consolidate the dishes in the kitchen, and reorganize odds and ends, so I can take down the cupboards and microwave above the stove.
  4. Take down the cupboards and microwave. Fill in the holes. Consider next steps. I am so desperate to do home renovation projects in my rental that I am taking down kitchen cupboards! One of my friends said that the 1972 cupboards are adorable and that she would keep them if it were her house, but they are so dark and grimy, in spite of best efforts. I’ve been feeling like the whole unit above the stove, along with the microwave, is a dark monster that looms over me while I cook! I need more space around my head. And I always feel a little neurotic in February.

I think that is more than enough for one week; I think that is a lot. I’ll post pictures of my mini kitchen renovation, if it works out!

That is a fairly aggressive plan. I would count it a success to get half of the projects done!
